A day with ngā Tūi
7.30am - 9.15am
Welcome and greet our friends as they arrive
We are usually combined alongside our ngā Pīwakawaka and ngā Kererū friends in our main play area. Inside and outside play is on offer once there are enough staff on the floor.
9.15am - 9.30am
Time to tidy up and get ready for a mat time and morning tea.
Each group usually head to their rooms by this time. We sometimes have a story or music time depending who is running the mat time. Mat time duration is also up to the teacher who may be running it
9.30am
Morning Tea
Before morning tea the first round of nappy checks are done. (Nappy roster for teachers in bathroom)
10.00am - 11.00am
Free play or optional session
Usually during this time it's optional to run a music session or story time or set up quiet mat activities.
During this time depending if we are heading out side, we apply sunscreen onto the children (also weather pending) Another round of nappy checks may be needed (if children were ok before morning tea).
11.15am - 11.30am
We gather together to help tidy up.
Usually a little mat time before we head down to the bathroom to wash and get ready for lunch.
11.30am
We come together to eat our kai
Lunchtime
12.00 - 2.30pm
Time for rest and sleep
There is usually another round of nappy checks before children go down. Teachers support and organise children for sleep time. Once asleep there is always a teacher present in the sleeping room. (Sleepers are usually up and dressed by 2:20)
2.30pm
We come together to eat our kai.
Afternoon Tea
3.00pm - 6.00pm
Free play
During this time we often have inside outside play and all groups are combined.
Final nappy check is usually done round 4 o’clock.
Farewell to our friends at home time.
